The Hayden Royal Breed History
In the early 1600th century, a small Kingdom existed in the country of present day Asia. The full background of the dog is unknown as far as ancestors, but many terror and pointing breeds were most likely mixed along with some other various forms of working breeds. During this time, King Edward 11 ruled the small kingdom and it's people. He owned several breeds of dogs both used for hunting and protection, but he always wanted more. He was obsessed with hunting, especially large game, and he wanted a dog that could accompany him and fend for itself when facing large predators. The King also was looking for protection dogs, constantly paranoid that he would be attacked. With the help and advice from some of his closest workers, he began the breeding program for an unnamed breed of dogs. Despite his efforts, he was still far from his desired breed by the time he died, leaving behind a wife and two sons. The eldest of them named Edward III. Edward III took the crown as a young teenager and continued with his fathers obsession of breeding the perfect breeding and protection dog. He progressed quite a bit farther in the breed before finally passing away, leaving his breed and kingdom to his son, Mathew. Again, as his father and grandfather before him, he continued with the breed, passing it down to his son whom passed it down to his. Finally, King Mathew Hayden III was able to prefect the breed to the standards he felt his great great grandfather had strived for. He named the breed after himself and the royal family, declaring them the Hayden Royals. This first 'official' Hayden Royal was the shorthaired type. The longhaired type emerged a bit later, bred by Hayden's progeny. The dog was closed to the public for some time until a young Queen saw the value the people took in the dogs and began selling a select few, keeping the majority of the fine dogs for the breeding program. These dogs were use for hunting large prey, such as bear, deer, elk, and for protecting the royal families. They even earned their roles as working dogs, pulling sleds or other things. When the kingdom was finally conquered, the conquers distributed the dogs, taking them where ever they went. They continued the breeding program and brought us the sturdy, durable working breed we have today.
