Something New

    The day was bright and sunny, a cool winter breeze blowing through the air, carrying the sweet scents of the fading fall. The first snow had already melted, leaving most everything muddy and wet, yet the horses didn't seem to mind. They thundered about their pastures with each other, rearing, bucking, running, just being horses. All in all, the day was shaping up well. Blue seemed to be fitting in well, which made the stable crew exalted.
    As the morning progressed, Courtney decided to try something new with the stallion. Moving to the tack room, Courtney pulled a halter with a bit down from one of the racks. Humming to herself, she moved down the aisles towards Blue's paddock. Finally reaching the grassy land, she clicked to the stallion as she slipped through the gait. Ears pricked forward, Blue watched curiously as the young woman approached.
    When she reached the young stallion, she presented the halter to the horse, letting him study it before she slowly began to ease it over her head, sliding the bit easily into his mouth. She was shocked how easily he had taken the foreign item, and she smiled as she patted his neck easily. "Good boy." She cooed, taking up the lead rope and urging him towards the pasture gate.
    Courtney eased the large stallion down the dirt path from his pasture. The new halter was working well on the horse, and she was still surprised that the stallion had taken it so easy. Now, he was strolling casually by Courtney's side, his eyes alert yet his body posture relaxed. He examened everything thoroughly, occasionaly stopping to take in something completely foreign and odd.
    As they neared the covered pen, Courtney patted his neck, smiling to herself as the horses pace picked up, seeming to know something new was going to be happening today. Ty was already in the round pen, a lunging rope in his hand. As the pair neared, he waved to them, only breaking eye contact as another hand brought out of the new horses. Ty continued about his work, hooking the horse to the lunging rope and starting to work with her.
    After letting the stallion watch for a moment, Courtney nudged him forward again, leading him towards the stream.
